Finally finished the original show, so watching this now. First impressions, I love how this show doesn't shy away from the violence, but also doesn't overplay it. The effects, the CGI, the cinematography, everything that has to do with the visuals, sound and music, are great. The first half also being mostly original material, I enjoyed it. The second half of this episode is where the cracks of the show start forming, because it felt like they combined 3 episodes into 1. A lot of expository dialogue, and not much time for us to feel Aang's thought process, but I'm forgiving it merely due to the fact that at least its much better than the 2010 movie. The acting is okay, I might need to get used to the actor for Aang, but the others are pretty good. They got the casting and the looks of the characters right. Overall, I'm looking forward to the rest of the show. There's no way it can be better than the original, but I'm looking forward to seeing the fights and the visuals. This will be the Zack Snyder's Watchmen of Avatar, where even if the story lacks substance, at least it will be a visual feast.
