A good and quite enjoyable season with some flaws.
This season had some of the best and most beautiful moments and episodes I have ever seen.
From Akecheta’s journey to consciousness to Maeve’s sacrifice for her daughter, there was a lot of emotional burden.
And the character development was so good, watching another whole version of Dolores trying to accomplish her goals was enjoyable yet scary.
The unique way to present the story through Bernard's time-traveling memories felt so good to watch.
But I can't deny that there were some flaws for me.
While the complexity of the story is a strength, it also becomes a weakness. The nonlinear storytelling that worked so well in the first season often feels overly complicated in the second. At times, the show seems to prioritize twists and turns over coherent storytelling.
The constant shifts between timelines made it difficult to keep track of the narrative, which was like a distraction from the overall impact.
And side plots, like The Shogun World, these side plots sometimes feel underdeveloped. Shogun World, in particular, is visually stunning but doesn't receive enough screen time to fully explore its potential imo.
The concept of "The Forge" and "The Door," introduced later in the season, is ambitious but often feels overcomplicated.
But my biggest problem with this season was the way it went against its biggest advantage, which was "philosophical depth".
So in season 1, the themes like consciousness and free will,, nature of your reality and self-identity and self discovery which felt new and interesting but they were used again in season 2, but they didn't add anything significant to the story. It felt like the majority of the themes from season 1 were being reused in season 2.
But still, this season was a good season and gave us one of the best and most beautiful TV episodes ever created in the face of KIKSUYA.
