“Tell them that all the best things are human.”
god, i’m so charmed by the familiarity (all the greek mythological characters that percy jackson/madeline miller/hadestown fans (aka ME) know and love and hate) vs the unfamiliarity of it all (all these imaginative interpretations of said characters!!!! i could never predict what was going to happen. like what do you mean there’s a fleabag prometheus and he's just as perfect as the prometheus in the beloved circe novel. what do you mean i would love dionysus the most out of all of the gods. oh nabhaan rizwan, brother of taskmaster contestant mawaan rizwan, you are so loved….)
eurydice forced to work in the underworld??? welcome back eurydice from the perfection that is hadestown! 🤍 this depiction of orpheus & eurydice is probably one of my favourites ever. and god did they have competition to beat. it’s like an adaption of that one carol ann duffy poem. “i am only /his/, /his/ muse, /his/ lover”… and the irish chris martin orpheus douchebaggery of it all… god. it’s perfect. the way they maintain the myth and yet defy it. how. how. it's so so so smart. orpheus’ “after you” and eurydice’s “look at me, orpheus, look at me” and yet. and yet!
the show rly tapped into my brain like all i've ever wanted is sucession themed greek gods (after all, zeus is made from the same set of bones as logan roy + homelander) set in a modern world tied-in with the visuals and essence of baz luhrmann’s romeo + juliet. like pls!!!! this is absolutely fantastic. such a well written script and just so incredible. i can’t stop thinking about this. it’s instantly become one of my favourites. so funny at times, and so so terrifying at others. the depiction of the underworld is probably my most favourite ever, beating hadestown and hades the video game. and those r already incredible incredible incredible adaptations!!
god i just never knew how much i needed this & i’m so happy it exists. i want at least 9 more seasons pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! netflix if u cancel this i will show up at ur doors. be warned
