This is definitely my least favorite KR series, with the plot and characters being incredibly generic, and offering nothing new. It felt like such a chore every Sunday whenever I realized I had to watch the new episode. For a show that promotes so much about chemistry, there is barely any between the characters of the show. I don't think they have any personality besides capturing Chemies and...just...doing magic stuff...I guess?

I liked Spanner's character focused episodes but they were very few and far between. I really found the Abyssalis Sisters annoying at first, but they slowly became my favorite parts of the show once Greyon's arc was over in the middle, because they were actually offering some complexity, despite not being written well. Greyon was definitely the worst part of the show, and it's really annoying how HE ended up being the main villain with his goofy ahh motivation. I thought Gigist was a way more threatening villain and being just an absolute incarnation of evil that feeds on your emotions was way more interesting than wanting to tUrN tHe wOrLd iNtO gOlD. The side characters are just okay, like I feel very indifferent towards them. Once again, I don't really feel the supposed bond they share with each other. Although Kaji offered one of the best episodes with his memory regaining plot, so that was cool.

Hotaro as a main character...I would say children will find him way more entertaining than I ever did. For me, he would definitely go down as one of the more annoying and pathetic main characters I've ever seen, in any show. The actor doesn't do any favors either, though I'm sure he tried his best. Maybe the writing itself is just bad. Besides Greyon, Hotaro is my second least favorite part of this show. We never even saw the story behind his dad either, which was actually one of the more interesting things I was looking forward to at the beginning. The stuff with Daybreak was also in a movie. Legend was...okay, once again, I didn't really feel his character. 

I just couldn't get myself to be invested in the storyline at all. I would've given this show 2 stars, if not for the final arc being actually decent. The final arc basically saved the show for me (might have to do with the hope that I wouldn't need to be watching weekly anymore). I wish they focused on Spanner's evil arc way early on and made it longer, because it actually makes sense and it felt like the stakes were raised incredibly high, with the alchemists being exposed to the whole world and all. Rinne's part in the final arc felt rushed as well, and we really didn't get anything with her dad, which was another thing I was looking forward to at the beginning.

So yeah, overall, this season was just painfully mid, like there's a lot of things I disliked, and a few things I liked, but I'm not gonna remember it once Gavv rolls around.
