Great pretender is one of the best shows I've watched in long time. I absolutely loved so much about this show and I enjoyed almost every second of it. The art style is absolutely beautiful and may just be my favorite looking anime I've watched. The characters are all fantastic, I love Edamura he may be one of my favorite main characters in anime. Laurent is fantastic and he has so many great moments. I love Cynthia and Abbie and I love their stories but I overall just loved everyone. For talking about the story I'm gonna split it up into each individual case along with a rating for each one.
Case1: Los Angeles Connection 9/10
This arc does almost everything perfectly, it sets up all the characters super well and I really love the whole first episode. The target is a pretty decent one we get a good amount of time with him. The animation is particularly nice in this case because LA is a really bright and colorful area. The best part about this case is the whole story and I absolutely love the entire premise of the scam and how many twists and turns you go through as a viewer. In my opinion besides the last case I was never as truly shocked as I was with this case because so much happened.
Case2: Singapore Sky 8/10
This is a solid case, I love the visuals and Singapore looks absolutely beautiful. I love the backstory we get on Abby and she gets tons of good moments in this arc. The targets are kinda mediocre, we don't get too much time with each one and it honestly only feels like one of them is a bad guy the other is just a typical athlete who has an evil brother. So yeah we don't get as much time seeing the targets be evil.
The story and set up is really solid, I love how they always fool Edamura and it's a cool idea overall. The part I didn't like as much is the payoff, in the first case we really see the affects and what happens after the big scam but in this one it's a lot less shown and doesn't feel as impactful. Overall still a great watch
Case3: Snow of London 8/10
This is the shortest case in the show, and I understand why. The main appeal of this case is the story we get for Cynthia and her whole backstory. We get a lot of time for her and I honestly really enjoyed it. The atmosphere of London isn't as colorful but it still looks amazing. The target is another big douche bag so we do get to see him being evil. The main idea of the scam in this case is pretty cool but the payoff feels super underwhelming and doesn't really make sense compared to the rest of the show, I won't get into details but if you seen the show you will probably understand. I will say that for this case and the second case it definitely loses a bit of the magic because there aren't as many twists and turns since it's mostly been explained before hand, it's still great tho. Overall a great case for story but not as much for the big scam.
Case4: Wizard of Far East 10/10
Easily one of the best arcs I've seen recently. This is the longest case which is perfect because we get so much time with the characters. The targets are all pretty evil people but we get tons of time with them which makes you forget that they are really evil sometimes. The build up for the case is the best part, this case connects every other case in the whole show and it makes for the set up and scam to feel the biggest out of all of them. We get tons of backstory for Laurent and I love all of it and it really explains so much for both Laurent and Edamura. But the best part of the case is the whole scam and the finale. Bro I was actually so shocked it does a perfect example of reverse dramatic irony and I actually loved the whole last couple episodes. It feels so connected to the rest of the show and had me actually flabbergasted. Easily the best case
Overall I actually love this show so mych but I don't know if they should make another season, I did hear there was a prequel though. My overall rating is a 9/10
