A brilliant and well-written masterful show that depicts the need, lust, and struggle for power, engaging in bloodshed that tackles religion, tradition, differing values and cultures, as well as classism and business power plays. Imagine Succession and Game of Thrones set in feudal Japan that encompasses its characters playing 4D chess.
Amazingly written characters that have tons of depth and nuances to them that make you emotionally attached having a profound and deep impact. The cinematography is beautifully shot reinforced by a fantastic score that carries the show. I loved how authentic and endearing the dialogue and character exchanges were - One of my favourite aspects of the show.
Hiroyuki Sanada is and always will be the main standout of any project. He defines "Aura"
Phenomenal performances from Anna Sawai and Cosmo Jarvis. Both leads had insane screen presence and heavy emotional arcs that had a very sincere effect on me. I loved their relationship and what could've been. I'm so glad that Hiroyuki Sanada was involved in this project and produced this terrific show! Felt so compelling and engaging. FX is just releasing Banger after Banger! Anna Sawai deserves that Emmy for Ep9. She was fucking incredible. Absolute powerful force. She's everything! He's just a pissy, potty mouthed arrogant prick named John
