AFTER THIS, I’LL NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT MY FAMILY CHRISTMAS AGAIN!
Oh god, that was so intense! This episode feels like the last season’s episode 7 "Review", but taken to another level. The intention is to fully develop Carmy’s family, and we get so many amazing cameos—from Jamie Lee Curtis and Bob Odenkirk to Sarah Paulson. Every one of them absolutely gets to shine, but Jamie Lee Curtis stands out the most. This might be one of the best performances I’ve seen from her in recent years.
This is the longest episode of the season, clocking in at around an hour. The only way I can describe it is as a one-hour panic attack, with a few lovely moments between characters sprinkled in. Even in the calmer moments, you can still hear a fight brewing somewhere in the background, and you know it’s going to turn sour real soon. I promise you, I had a bit of a panic attack from the stress this episode caused me, but this show is at its best when you know something is really going to go wrong.
What made this episode even more impactful was how unexpected it was. The last two episodes were much more laid back, so I didn’t see this intensity coming. The element of surprise really elevates the episode. The timer going off every minute added so much stress—the sound is still stuck in my mind. The final act was incredibly intense, with everyone literally acting their hearts out as if it were a competition.
In every way, this is the best episode the show has delivered so far. I can’t wait to see if they can top this, or if this will go down as the best episode of the series. Also, since it was an hour long, I decided to make myself some tea, but I completely forgot about it. By the time I finished the episode, the tea was cold, and I’m too lazy to make another, so no tea for me today.
