i went into this season expecting something exceptional, but generally overrated as i have heard people refer to this as the greatest season of all time.
i will say it is NOT. it isn’t perfect by any means, but i have this as a top 5 season as of right now, and it may change over time. this was the perfect mix of entertainment and dark/disturbing themes. the mystery also seems realistic (which is horrifying), and they did a great job of tying everything together at the end without it feeling forced. rust is one of the most personably relatable characters ive seen. his philosophy that sticks with him through the show that he finally rejects at the end is just amazing, underrated development. rust’s “polar opposite” dynamic with marty is one of the most entertaining i’ve seen and their friendship was the center point of this season. i also loved the religious symbolism and themes used in this season, they were executed beautifully. overall, i think the only “flaw” i can say about this season is that it’s only 8 hours/episodes long, so the entire story that is being told is only being told in one season, which honestly isn’t even really a flaw, it just would’ve been nice to see some things expanded on some more and the plot delved into a little more. i have rust as a top 5 live action tv protagonist as of right now, and be MASSIVELY exceeded my expectations.
unbelievable season.
