Massively disappointing. It's a narrative built on absolutely zero urgency, a needlessly stretched-out epilogue that makes the previous seasons' directionless filler look like the gold standard.
Eriol is a horrible antagonist; his motivations are convoluted, his crew is useless, and his schemes are tedious. The fun characters are cast aside in favor of the repetitive and half-baked Clow storyline, which ultimately leads nowhere intriguing or actually meaningful.
The saving grace is the central romance, which is quite sweet; yet, it's set as a secondary plot for most of the season, in favor of the much less investing card conflict. "Sakura" has never been exceptional, but this season is clueless, dried-out version of itself on basically all fronts. A collection of mediocre content, got old really fast.
