Alright, so when I started it, I had no idea what I was going to watch. And I finished it by thinking that it was one of the best and most masterfully crafted pilots I have ever seen. This episode had so much to establish from the characters to their relationships to the traumatic events, and it did it in an astonishing way. The characters were compelling and complex. And the actors totally killed it. The portrayal of Louis was so good, the way Anderson captured his inner moral struggle was so satisfying to see. His transformation from a grieving mortal to a reluctant vampire is both tragic and interesting. His grief, duality and humanity make him potentially one of the greatest protagonists. And to accompany him, we had an equally complex character of Lestat's. He was so charismatic yet had a dominating, menacing presence. His personality is so complex, which keeps swinging between charm and cruelty, which is so fascinating. And one of the most important elements of this episode was the visual elements, which were so stunning. The cinematography showed the gothic beauty, blending it with the modern-day setting. The use of lighting and shadows enhances the atmosphere, crucial for a vampire narrative. I just started this show randomly and now I think that it's going to be one of my fav shows. #2 Favorite Pilot right now and quality wise it could be #1 as well.
