"Well, I was on my way to this gay Gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled when I suddenly thought 'Gosh, the Third Reich's a bit rubbish. I think I'll kill the Fuehrer.' Who's with me?." A super fun and a rollercoaster of an episode that is only overshadowed by the, masterpiece... that was the last episode. The overwhelming amount of hate i can understand in some aspects, but come now have a bit of fun. Its really not a terrible episode. Just going to get to the point, yes i find this better and more enjoyable than A Good Man Goes to War, yes its a very obvious episode with a lot of stupid things going on and a weird but dumb-fun pay off to the origin of River Song. But honestly, i can't help but have so much fun with this episode purely for how crazy, dumb and silly it is. The Mels twist has to be one of the most obvious twists in the show and television as a whole. We're told she's Amy and Rory's best friend and that she knows all about the doctor, and her name is.. "Mels". How very convinient? I mean its just obvious straight from the get go isn't it because her name is literally a shorter version of Melody, and the fact we've only just met her now as well so anyone could easily make the assumption that something about her will be key to this episode and the season in general. Its really just so dumb and disappointing levels of writing mainly just for how lazy and obvious the twist was. Imagine if Moffat made this character back in Series 5, or at least mention her at all. Just imagine how shocking and brilliant the twist would've been if it was done like that. Such massive missed potential for an honestly brilliant idea. The Teselecta is a very cool concept on paper, but the idea of it gets boring and very stupid extremely fast especially when the episode just stops so it can explain the plot line of the season as a whole. Like from Moffat you just wouldn't expect that from him its just odd and not like him. But besides its a shapeshifting robot controlled by tiny people. Ridiculous, but its Doctor Who so its automatically just so fun. As for the main plot line itself honestly i've got no words apart from the fact that again its just so mad and fun. It is finally cool to see River Song in her early days as River Song, but i feel like it could've been way more fascinating and a whole lot more i don't know darker? But what we got i'm overall satisfied with as its entertaining at least. Alex Kingston just eats the role up everytime, i enjoy how camp she plays post-regeneration River. Silly, very messy, dumb. But fun. Just so fun. For an episode titled Let's Kill Hitler, we only see him used as a gag to laugh at. And a very funny gag at that. Besides the insane name of the title and some weird and stupid decisions being made. This is honestly such an underrated episode thats really not bad aside from some issues. Its a shame its so overshadowed by the previously overrated and disaster of an episode that was A Good Man Goes to War. It has a lot of genuinely good comedy with the main ensemble and some excellent moments with River. Its an episode of Doctor Who, its job is to entertain. And oh my was i entertained still. I love this show so much.
