Greed Island Arc Rating - 7/10 - Good little arc. It was only 18 episodes, and i binged through the last half of it which was very enjoyable. But overall not too crazy but not bad either. I think the middle of the arc was very weak. But Bisky was fun to watch sometimes. 2nd worst arc just ahead of the Heavens Arena arc. Chimera Ant Arc Rating - 9.8/10 The most controversial arc of the show. You either love it, or hate it. I for one, absolutely loved it. One of the best arcs of all time. Up there with Return to Shiganshina, and The Siege of Mandalore for me. In terms of character writing this is quite easily the best i've seen in a single arc. Gon's development, Killua's development, Meruem's absolutely astonishing development (Best antagonist of all time), Netero's Nen abilities, the dynamic with The King and Komugi (Best love story in fiction) The paralells, the symbolism, the peaks, the animation, the fights, the shock value, the atmosphere, the voice acting, the emotions... Just about everything you'd like to have in an arc... with one exception... being the pacing, which definitely knocks this arc down a bit. I see many people saying that this arc was "too slow in the first half" and using it as way to criticize this arc, which couldn't be more wrong. Slow pacing ≠ Bad pacing. I enjoyed almost every episode from 1x76-101. There were like 9 or 10 episodes that weren't that good, not writing wise, but in terms of keeping the viewer engaged and the story flowing at a well paced manor (1x86-1x90, 1x98-1x101). But every other episode had me hooked and wanting more of it. The 2nd half of the arc was godly. 1x111-1x136 was just an incredible stretch, very hype, very good buildup, some of the best episode of all time (126, 131, and 135). It had one episode in the entire stretch that i didn't care for which was 1x119. But everything else was great-godly. The overall themes for this arc were so well handled and were easily my favorite aspect.
