Honestly, I never expected Nathan Fielder to one-up Nathan for You with just one season. It takes the momentum of Finding Frances, where Nathan struggles to define where his real self end and his character begins, and just rolls with it. It’s equally hilarious as it is poignant. Something needs to be said about how much of a genius Nathan is at picking the right people for his shows. The vague Craigslist ad he posted was the perfect tool to find a self-selecting group of odd individuals and he managed to choose such interesting candidates to craft each episode around. Keeping Angela around was also such a great choice, she gets worse and worse as time goes on and it’s fascinating to watch. Yes, the last episode absolutely destroyed me, too. I don’t want to spoil it for people who haven’t seen it but I think it was a perfect way to cap the first season. I’m so glad it was renewed for a second season. HBO better not continue it’s string of fuck ups by canceling this masterpiece. Also, anyone who thinks this show is bad because Nathan manipulates people needs to shut up. That’s the best part of any of his work. I’d let him nuke downtown Manhattan if he felt it would make a good bit.
