The pace “𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧” is able to sustain right out of the first episode’s metaphorical gates is nothing short of miraculous. We, the audience, already feel affiliated with each character and their visions. We’re shown now being shown how detrimental Logan is to the company and how bricks begin to fall without his activity. Kendall, as well as the rest of the sibling, shows great discomfort for their father’s health, all while secretly relishing in his step up to authority. He feels like the #1 boy. We see Romans crude attitude slip slightly as he sits by his fathers beside during the final moments. Greg tries his hardest to please his family which leads more hilarious antics. Tom even proposes to Shiv here, in the 2nd episode! There’s a lot going on in this otherwise gloomy maze of a hospital. I particularly like the shot of Kendall looking over the city with the glaring sun shining down on him. It overtly parallels later shots in the show. He’s just been told the companies in extreme debt, he hunches over contemplating action. He’s putting on his father’s shoes but doesn’t know if they will fit. All within the 2nd episode of the series. Goes to show how the succession writers operate in problematic situations. We also get an introduction for Gerri here which is important given her value later on. More funny Connor stuff too.
