Feels at times more like an advert than a documentary. I live just 20 minutes away from Camden and have been lucky to spend a lot of time in a place with so much culture and musical history. I only half recognised the mythical place on screen. Camden has undoubtedly lost some of its identity in more recent years but that didn’t seem to be something this miniseries wanted to wrestle with. I would’ve also like a deeper dive into to the history of the area and just when it became the cool place to be.
There was lots of great concert footage and funny anecdotes, but it lacked a lot of Camden’s grit and I wanted to see more punks. Dua Lipa’s ties to the area were interesting to hear about, but her immaculate way of talking and pop star sheen just seemed at odds with the subject matter.
