Sigh this was the biggest disappointment ever I fear. I remember gearing up for this season like it was yesterday. I heard all over Twitter the rumours of this being a returnee season the elusive all stars 2 that I had dreamed of for so long. It came after a point in which I had become disillusioned with the show where every subsequent season disappointed me that I eventually gave up at the end of season 19, the end of season 20, and didn’t even bother after the premiere or 21. It felt like a potential renaissance for my love of this game which had been lost. The pre season was just so fun being in the trenches and hearing all the rumours. The cast felt almost too good to be true with some of my favourites of all time and ofc there were some bsers but that was to be expected. I got really excited when the cast ended up being real and I would get to see Janelle, Kaysar, and Dani play live for the first time ever since I started watching live at bb15 (horrible entry point I know), see the return of some of my favs including Keesha and Davonne, and just get to enjoy the game again. I got so excited for this that I literally purchased a vpn to watch feeds since I’m not in the us. So I sat down to watch the premiere with my friend since childhood as we both loved the show but fell out of love and were super excited for what was to come. And then the worst thing in hindsight that could have happened did, Cody won hoh. But not only that he won because he could tell which path was the right one as they didn’t wait long enough to reset due to having a live move in. And like that the season came crashing down. The committee formed, kaysar/janelle/bayleigh/kevin/davonne could not win hoh and got picked off 1 by 1. Keesha was first boot and Memphis made it nearly to the end. Davonne and bayleigh facing racism and microaggression from houseguests with Christmas and Tyler’s fake quitting. Danielle turning into evil Dani and becoming everything I hated about a player. Nicole being a bully and horrible person making fun of Ian and others. I could go on but I’ll stop here. I stopped watching the episodes some time after Janelle left and kept up with the rest of the trainwreck on Twitter only tuning in during the finale in the hopes davonne would win afp and she did. And I closed my interest in big brother. I was so excited for this and it was the biggest let down. I waited for this moment since I was a preteen and when it came it could not have been worse as it became a boring steamroll, pretty much most of what big brother had become in the prior seasons since the bb16pocalypse. This only gets a one star for how fun the lead up was and getting to see some of my favourites play. This truly was the nail in the coffin for my interest in big brother and maybe one day I’ll return to watching it but if I do it will be with strong skepticism and hesitancy because of this (I know I’m being dramatic but this really was hard to witness as a huge superfan).
