Rilakkuma and Kaoru is an endlessly cosy anime, a stop motion iyashikei, exploring adult themes and worries with its cosy exterior, while also using that cosy aeshetic and world to show the importance of breaks and comfort to get you through life. The visual style is particularly lovely with all its textures and use of light.
It feels like there might be a lack of progression in the overall narrative and characterisation of Kaoru, but the charm still carries it, and another season is due. Overall, despite not doing quite as much as I had hoped, I still very much enjoyed this, and am really looking forward to it continuing. 7/10 I think?
