After the first episode I did think that this docuseries was simply here to lecture us on what probably most of us already know, that Camden is a hip and trendy place where musicians hang out. What actually transpired was a series that produced much more than that. What I wasn’t aware of was its pulling power, especially to our friends across the pond, and its uniqueness at giving birth to certain music genres as covered in the show’s best episode ‘Pioneers’. I did feel at times that the documentary went off course a little by providing mini stories detailing the careers of some of the artists who frequented the town, only then to pull itself back over the line when it realises it has maybe gone too far. Also I would like to have seen more history of the town itself and the origins of WHY this specific spot in London became a melting pot for music, which I felt was somewhat overlooked.
