i will never look at the family of deer that live in my backyard the same ever again
this show added the much needed & well-appreciated horror and psychological thriller aspect to one of my other favorite shows, the wilds. it was 10x more intense, horrifying and cryptic in its symbolism, and i loved every episode.
full of plot twists, realistic edgy teenage girl dialogue & an alarmingly perfect soundtrack, this show was exactly what i needed right now. it was obviously a story about, first and foremost, survival in unfounded circumstances, but also about the effects of trauma, in the short and long term. the way each character responds to the situations they are placed in are all so different, creating great character dynamics that developed so well over the weeks, and then over the subsequent years. the mystery of it all was so exciting, and i constantly found myself looking between the past and present and asking how things played out in the 25 years between the two timelines.
the last two episodes were some of the best television i’ve seen in recent months — they were suspenseful, creepy and made me have to turn on my lamp on in my very dark room. the cliffhanger you’re left with is just so BAM! and then it’s done! there is so much left to be answered, but as of right now i’m very much satisfied by what the first season gave us.
also christina ricci absolutely ATE down in this role i will never forget her
