This season is kind of all over the place. It has direction for the first 6-7 episodes and the pacing is very slow and it drags, but it was at least leading to somewhere. Also after Elliot gets out of prison him and Mr. Robot’s dynamic kind of falls off a little bit. Also no more Leon from that point which was easily my favorite addition from this season and kind of pissed me off we didn’t get to see him again. Also I feel like this season just doesn’t have much memorability from it outside of 2x6, 2x10, and 2x12. It pissed me off even more Leon wasn’t in the show passed Elliot getting out of jail because most of the side characters are always meh. Like I could care less about Joanna, Dominique, Darleen, Whiterose, or Angela sometimes. Dominique is the most trope driven character I’ve seen in a minute. The “I’m the detective that’s gonna try hard and solve the case” is one of the most overused tropes in crime dramas I feel like. Also another bad thing is she is given very little depth and characterization for me as a viewer to understand her or empathize with her at least a little. Angela this season starts off really slow, but once you see where her character is going I personally really like her this season compared to last season. At first I thought she was really buying into the E Corp bs and thought she was feeling comforted by them, but she still continues to go against the company which I really like. She realizes she had lost her ways I feel like and she realized why she really was in E Corp in the first place. Way better character compared to the first season where it feels like she just used to be Elliot’s girlfriend down the road who cares for him here and there. Imo I think the prison plot twist made sense, but it had like no payoff whatsoever and the only reason they did it was to get Elliot out of the jail? Because once they revealed the plot twist Elliot was released and it felt so pointless. Even tho I hated those 1 hour long episode because they drag I did love the dynamic development him and Mr. Robot had their in the prison. Also I wish we got more Tyrell this season because I am becoming really interested in his character. Also I think the Darleen stuff was just alright, but sometimes it was good. Top 3 characters: 1.
