nothing really changed between season 1 and season 2 besides the addition of at least 2 characters and yet i didn’t feel the same as i did when i watched the second half of season 1 lexi’s dad was alluded to all of season 1 as some scary neglectful guy who lexi did not have a good emotional relationship with & she constantly worried about his opinion on the newspaper while i will always love brad garrett, it did not make any sense to cast him as lexi’s dad it felt like i was just seeing douglas from single parents (also an abc show) walking around brad playing the idea of a rich guy who owns the newspaper & doesn’t really care so he might sell it since it’s an outdated concept, really worked for him this job as a business guy is also more fitting for a douglas type-character than being a dermatologist, which i never understood was the career for a guy who seems to hate people & love money brad garrett however did not fit the vibe/image of being lexi’s father & someone she’s afraid of definitely needed someone more older looking & more intimidating also i really should have liked edward & lexi together but nope something felt off & i was fully rooting for edward and nell to get together or acknowledge something the new sports coworker was nice with nell but still not the one for her and the kids dealbreaker abruptly ended everything for them lexi went through a divorce in season 1 nell was the single one who just went through a long break-up / ending of an engagement sam was the happily married one so why tf did they have sam go through a separation & divorce???? it was quite honestly so unnecessary for her character here let her be the one dealing with marriage & family moments lexi always steamed single but i would have been fine with knowing she had a boyfriend or fiancé once the show started so i was shocked when i learned she is married & has a kid!! but that allowed sam & lexi to bond as moms and have their daughters be friends this is what made sam & lexi friends in a way that nell could not be and then it was okay when lexi got divorced, she still has her daughter so the mom connection still stands with sam but making sam now single makes zero sense & i hated this plotline for her that last episode with nell speaking to douglas while he was in limbo between life & death was truly interesting & felt different from the rest of the season, way more deep & meaningful and i really wanted to know for certain if douglas remembers talking to nell or not
