"X-Men '97" is a brilliant show. Its main benefactor is its compelling story that has everything from heroism, love, friendship, loss and most importantly the ability to hold together. This show is sequel to "X-Men : The Animated Series" (1992-1997). We return to 1997, mutants after the loss of "Professor X", "Cyclops" must lead the team on their next chapter, but things don't seem so straight forward as "Magneto" was left the school to be Charles's successor. Two big bads dominate the season, "Sinister" and "Bastion" who is controlling a new form of sentinels called "Prime Sentinels" to try and defeat the "X-Men". I had watched the original, last month and thought this couldn't be as good, a few episodes in I thought this season couldn't keep this amazing pace, towards the end I thought they will hardly stick the landing, and after the finale I'm blown away. The show looks fantastic, the classic animation with a modern flavour, some good music and great voice work. The action is ramped up substantially, in the old show they blast people while this season they took beatings and got bloody. The score of the "Newton Brothers" electrifies you and, when needed, touches you on an emotional level. The story telling this season was absolutely brilliant, a core story to follow with subplots that are just as interesting. The "OMG" moments, and there is a lot of them, are unbelievable, after "Episode 4" and "Episode 5", every episode could be deemed finale quality. "Episode 4" and "Episode 6" were my only meh episodes, everything else was close to perfect. This is an experience you should treat yourself !!!
