This Is Us season 1 did not excite me in the slightest. It’s bloated and dragged most of the time. Despite that, throughout I would see brief glimpse of something better that the writers are clawing at. Except from some episodes I don’t think they succeeded in that thing, but it’s definitely under the surface. The best thing going for it is probably its themes and the worst thing is ifs fugly visuals. I get that season 1’s usually are where a show tries to find its footing, and I’ve heard better things for season 2 so I hope things tend to go north moving forward.
