Under the Banner of Heaven is easily one of the greatest detective thrillers ever put to screen. An absolute masterpiece of television is every way possible. Andrew Garfield is utterly electric as Detective Jeb Pyre, a man fighting between his faith and his duty as a cop. His partner Gil Birmingham is just as good delivering an arguably better performance than Garfield. The entire ensemble that plays the Lafferty family is amazing but it’s Wyatt Russell and Daisy Edgar Jones that stand out from the pack. The cinematography is nothing short of incredible, with each and every frame being a visual treat, especially in the final episode. The score is just as impressive as the cinematography and helps elevate the show in numerous ways. Overall, if you’re looking for an incredible thriller to binge than this is the show. It’s easily the second best investigative show ever made and one of my personal favorites. 5/5
