Ep1-3 – Brilliant follow up to The Suicide Squad. Low-key feels like James Gunn's most personal work to date given that he had an abusive childhood and so far the show has done a great job of getting into Peacemaker's psyche. It's so refreshing to see a comic book property that is not centered around a traditional superhero. Christopher Smith is a douchebag but not for no reason. Gunn gives just enough edge to make audiences connect with the person while also still being able to acknowledge how big of a clown he is. On top of that, I love the seemless blend of sci-fi and sitcom aesthetic here. From a visual standpoint, the show looks very good. The lighting feels purposeful and staging and blocking are very well done. The fight sequence at the end of first episode is so brilliantly done and in classic Gunn fashion, it isn't afraid to go bonkers when necessary. Based on the leaks that I've heard, we haven't seen shit yet. It gets alot weirder from here and I'm sooo here for it. Fantastic start to first DCEU show, makes me even more optimistic for the franchise as a whole going forward.
