Because this was a blind recommendation I had no idea that this second season was made ten years after the first. Ironically, it’s the complete opposite of everything I liked about the show’s first season, but that only made me like it more. It’s a kinder, more mature take on celebrity and their relationship to reality television, and a more three dimensional look at the character of Valerie. The intensely cringey cringe comedy isn’t as prevalent, and instead we get a nice, complex relationship drama. (Which neatly matches Valerie’s own pivot to an HBO dramedy in-world) Might’ve teared up a bit at the end of the final episode… which is something I never expected to be saying at this show just a few hours ago.
