Echo is a very enjoyable series that could've been even better if it didn't have the same problems that have plagued all other MCU series. It's getting ridiculous at this point. It's like Marvel hasn't learned anything.
Let's start with what doesn't work. The show doesn't have enough episodes and those that it does have are not long enough. The story is interesting, but it feels rushed. I disliked the finale in particular. It was incredibly sloppy and unsatisfying. I also wasn't a fan of changing Maya's powers. It didn't fit her character or the tone of the show. Despite being very likable, the supporting cast is too big and underdeveloped. Some of them like the skating rink bad guys felt completely unnecessary.
Now let's talk about the good stuff. I loved the fight scenes. They were very well shot and choreographed. The fight in episode 1 was particularly good. I also really liked the grounded, grittier, darker feel of the show. It was a welcome change of pace from the usual cringe humor that Marvel forces us to sit through. The acting is quite good. Alaqua Cox does a wonderful job leading the show. She was one of the most interesting parts of Hawkeye and she's just as good here. I loved all the stuff about her ancestors and the spotlight on Native American culture in general. Maya's friends and family were also quite likable and fun to be around. Vincent Donofrio is great as well. Fisk has many good scenes, although the way he's treated in the finale is pretty stupid.
Overall, Echo could've been something amazing if it wasn't for Marvel and their inability to learn from their mistakes. The show is certainly good, but I was expecting much more.
