65 Childhood classic for my gf, so it's only natural that I had to check it out. The use of the Clow Cards are often very underwhelming and don't feel like much effort was put into making them organic and cohesive to the narrative, but the weekly format is wonderful for different reasons: the whimsy of a good slice-of-life childhood anime. For all the pointless additions and AWFUL romantic relationships, the core cast actually manages to be really quirky and lovable throughout, and even the repetition of dynamics and gags doesn't lose its charm (when done properly). Other standout aspects are the music & the battle outfits, both consistently entertaining and engaging. It's got an identity that it is very confident on, and, as a consequence, it's gleeful to experience once you've warmed up to its shortcomings. Kero and Tomoyo stole my heart (Kero's comments at the end of every episode made my day). Heavily flawed, but far from heartless.
