Dexter season 2 is a great follow up from season 1. What happens often with shows is that season 1 is usually quite solid and the follow up season is clearly weaker, but for Dexter, that isn’t necessarily the case. The season is pretty great however I do have some problems with it. What season 1 managed was really impressive, but this time around, there is a decent amount of stuff that I really couldn’t care for. Debra this season has quite a strange plotline. I won't go much into detail as I don’t really like going into spoilers in these season reviews. Most of my thoughts on her development are in my episode reviews, so if you are interested then check out my thoughts in them. All I will say is that I thought her character would go in another direction, but we got this instead. It isn’t that bad; I just think that it could have been much more compelling. She is a lot more annoying this time around too. Some of her scenes with Lundy can honestly be painful to watch at times (you know which ones I am talking about if you have seen it). Lila as an antagonist is a big step down from Brian imo. Lila managed to get away with way too much this season that she really shouldn't have, but the show wanted to tell its story, so it happened. Doakes and Dexter’s dynamic yet again is really great this season, with Doakes keeping his eye on Dexter because of the ice truck killer situation. Doakes really does try his hardest to try and get any evidence he can against Dexter, but Dexter is just too cold and calculated to let him get away with it. Shorter review this time. Will probably have much more to say about the next two because I’ve heard really good things.
