Flawless season
I had high hopes for this season and my expectations were blown away. Every character’s involvement this season was great, each plot line was interesting because of how it was built on the previous seasons. I’d say the only plot line i wish was more focused on was Nachos. I really want to care about his character, and on a certain level i do, but he just wasn’t given the screen time he deserved this season or last season especially. Thats really the only nit pick i have but not enough to consider a flaw.
I thought Jimmy and Kim were getting serious last season but their relationship was taken on a whole different level throughout this one. Jimmy was developing more into Saul last season and Kim was doing the same this season. I didn’t realize it until the last episode of each season. I still love Kim though shes a real ride or die.
Jimmy had to question himself at the end because of how Kim wanted to ruin Howard. He went through some shit this season and it opened his eyes to how deep he’s in the game now, and he doesn’t want that for Kim.
I still stand on wanting more Nacho screen time but i did appreciate his role this season. Finding himself more trapped than ever due to Lalo and Gus. If he didn’t do everything both of them said he’d probably be dead already. I like the dynamic he has with Mike as well. Mike looking out for Nacho reminds me of how he looked out for Jesse.
Mike had to come to terms with who he works for and what he does this season. I love the way he developed this season from denial to accepting that this is what keeps his loved ones safe.
Lalo, the most fun character this season. The way Vince Gilligan gives his characters these strong personalities is perfect, because on one hand you have Gus who’s intimidating, cold, and calculated and never cracks a real smile. Then you have Lalo who is also intimidating but always smiling. He’s a different kind of sociopath because he kills without remorse and rarely ever shows emotion, but isn’t emotionless, he clearly cares for his Uncle and hates to see him in the old folks home. Outside of Hector he has no regard for anyone else’s life.
Vince Gilligan writes psychopaths and sociopaths better than anyone else in television.
