There were some good moments of writing in this episode. The scene with Alec and Madzie is one of the reasons I'm keeping my rating at 3 stars. BUT... My biggest issue with this episode comes from two specific plotlines that were either set up or driven home that just really don't make any sense for the show overall. One I'm willing to get past despite the unnecessary contradiction it created, but the other? Especially given how it started? Nah, freak that. Hard pass. To echo another user's review: The books were right there.
