A massive drop-off in terms of writing compared to season 1. The pacing feels so break neck fast. They don't linger on a scene for a minute and so it feels way too hyperactive which really goes against the shows aim of satirizing mysticism and pseudo-intellectualism as it fails to match the calm, wise tone that the people this was meant to satirize have as well as the first season. Xavier himself felt way more annoying in this season compared to the 1 as he felt too manic and bothersome. In the 1st season he would come across a problem on his travels and attempt to fix it whilst only making everything worse. In the 2nd it feels like he's actively looking for problems which makes him feel extremely aggravating to watch. The plots are also way more incoherent then the 1st season. His dialogue is also less funny then in the original. It's really telling that whenever I see people quote Xavier they're more often then not quoting him in the 1st season rather then in this one. While the first season was very absurd and weird as well it still gave a coherent plot that you could follow whilst in this one it is way harder to do that. It felt like the writers misunderstood what made the 1st season so good. I think they thought it was because of the absurdist, dreamlike feel but it wasn't, at least to me anyway. It was actually about the incredibly well written moronic dialogue and satire of pseudo-intellectualism which this season lacks altogether.
