truly the best tv i think to ever exist. how this show managed to go from the absolute masterpiece of this season to the steaming pile of trash seasons 7 and 8 were is truly one of the worlds greatest mysteries. but i'm not going to talk about how terribly it ended, i'm going to reminisce on what i think is the greatest season of any show. this entire season is how i choose to remember the show. there isn't a single bad episode. from "two swords" to my personal favorite episode of the show, "the children", it is just sheer perfection to me. this season introduces, and unfortunately kills one of the best characters, oberyn. it still boggles my mind how a character who was only in a few episodes could have so much impact, but that is how amazingly pedro pascal played the role. "the lion and the rose" is like a trainwreck that you don't see coming. you're hit with the death of one of the show's greatest villains in just the second episode of a season, it felt like it gave me whiplash. episode 9, "the watchers on the wall" is such a stunning episode that perfectly contrasts and sets the pace of the finale, "the children." i know i've already said it, and i know it's a bold statement, but this season is my personal favorite season of television ever. it is just breathtakingly well acted, well written, and probably most of all, beautifully directed. if you haven't watched the show because of how divisive the ending was... please watch this. it is worth it.
