Blows season one out of the water for a few major reasons. While this season is still sort of a low 5 star it was still great and worked like one long episode rather than what was done in season one. While the first season was great the main gripe that I had with it to not give it a five-star review was the pacing, and how the writers only focused on a select 4-5 things for each episode and didn't move it backwards and pick up parts from earlier in the season and did this in 3-4 episode stretches so that the last 4 episodes were entirely dedicated to Dex and Brian. This season makes a big improvement on this by just doing everything at once it does so greatly, which ramps up into the final 4 episodes which are absolutely hectic because they aren't zoned into one thing at a time but let everything building from the start of the season come crashing down on Dexter. A couple highlights of the season for me were Lundi but especially seeing Doakes being included in the smaller moments of the show, from which he was mostly absent in season one unless yelling at dexter. dexter and Doakes's dynamic is what made the season and knowing that he won't be in the show after this season is kind of disappointing even if it made for a good episode. Dexter and Rita's relationship this season was set out greatly to come back full circle and was not sluggish at all, mainly driven by the feud with Lila (who absolutely ruined every scene she was in). The show is set out to be seasonal, to have one villain that Dexter chases each season with the force, another person, or by himself, but the show can take it much further than that. I am already aware of the main plot for the next season with Miguel and how they team up, but the choice to have dexter tracking himself through his job, which was going to happen at some point in the show, so early one was actually a great choice and even though I knew there was still six seasons to go, I genuinely thought dexter was done when they brought out the slides.
