A show that centers around the socioeconomic differences between the haves and have-nots; on the iniquitous balance as those at the top live in privilege and grandeur (literally as it is illustrated in the show), and the bottom as they have to survive off of scraps, squalor and a crime syndicate led by a man named Silk who takes advantage of the most vulnerable. Arcane is a show that depicts how capitalism has created an unequal balance of the rich getting richer and using capital in order to make profits from commodities and use imperial warfare to gain. We follow our main characters Vye and Jinx as we navigate their turbulent journey navigating this world after they have lost their parents. The story centers asking how the events and politics in this world shape who they become as they grow older. This is one of my top 10 shows of all time, and I highly recommend it! It’s also based off of the video game and this is one of the best adaptations (outside of Last of Us 2023™️).
