It's completely messed up; each episode seems to be written primarily for the purpose of experimenting with different storytelling techniques, which turns out to make the narrative chaotic. The case is overly complicated and develops almost insufficiently in each episode, drawing Death and Other Details too much into a pointless story that drags the case out until it eventually loses its initial appeal. Cliffhangers are vital, it should be emphasized, but it seems like the writers of this series are only concerned with creating a suspenseful and intriguing cliffhanger without considering the larger picture or the likely outcome of it.
