Monster being described as a slow burn is the most common label I've seen put on it. But perhaps the perfect way to describe it. It's slow, but it needs to be and executes it flawlessly. It takes a while to get to where the story is headed, but it makes the payoff so much more satisfying. My favorite thing about this show has got to be the antagonist. Johan has got to be one of the most menacing and complex characters I've ever seen on TV. Every time Johan was on screen he became the highlight. You could tell something crazy was about to go down. The complexity between Tenma and Johan is incredible aswell. They are polar opposites, which makes they're dynamic so much better. Watching Tenma constantly be challenged with the burden of watching so many horrible things happen inadvertently by his hand is incredible. He was just doing his job but he still feels guilty for it. I think I'll probably watch either Dark or Avatar The Last Airbender since I've heard nothing but incredible things about both. 🦙
