Hiroyuki Sanada the GOAT!!!
Talky episode until the (very cool) ending, but still mostly good to great stuff. I have a feeling this is going to be top-tier whenever Sanada is on screen (all his interrogations of Blackstone this episode are the show's best scenes so far); and really fucking good whenever Cosmo Jarvis is on screen (new to me, but very charismatic and am enjoying the caginess of his character) or Tadanobu Asano (unhinged character, and realized he was also in Silence, which I'm being reminded of due to the presence of the Portuguese Jesuits) or Anna Sawai (cool, hot, smartest character in the show so far?)
Everything else is mostly pretty good due to the production design, but I'm still warming up to the rest of Sanada's crew, his Japanese rivals and the Portugese church. The show is juggling a /lot/ and what remains to be seen is if the other elements can catch up to Sanada's presence, which admittedly is a tall ask. Either way I'm very excited for the rest of the season.
