On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant near Pripyat, Ukraine, suffered a catastrophic failure, leading to a core explosion in Reactor 4. This miniseries follows the stories of Valery Legasov, the chief scientist tasked with managing the disaster, Boris Scherbina, a Soviet official representing the government’s interests during the crisis, Ulana Khomyuk, a nuclear physicist determined to uncover the truth behind the events of that fateful night, and the countless men and women who gave everything to contain the world’s worst nuclear disaster. This miniseries is fantastic through and through. The acting, production, writing and historical accuracy is spot on and helps cement Chernobyl as one of the greatest television shows I’ve ever seen. Watch this show if you haven’t.
