Coming into the Leftovers I had massive expectations and was totally ready for this to be a top 3 show for me. Many of my mutuals told me how this was in their top 5’s so I was excited. I made up an issue for myself by expecting something that wasn’t gonna happen. I came into the show with the wrong mindset. The leftovers is the most unique tv show I have ever seen without a doubt in my mind. The character work and world building that this show brings to the table is one of the greatest i’ve seen. I took the wrong approach and thought it was going to be a show full of explanations and how to solve problems whereas it was entirely different and was more or so an emotional roller coaster. Onto my thoughts on the actual show, the show honestly starts of well besides some hate the pilot receives. The tone of the show sets really quick and we realise we’re in for a spectacular show alongside an amazing soundtrack. We immediately notice Kevin and he stands out from the other characters from start to finish with this show. I feel in a certain way the overall writing and direction of the show lost its footing at s3 and was a bit messy with time jumps etc but I still think it’s definitely the best season. Season 1 honestly is a very good season and is quite underrated on this app. episodes like 1x8 and 1x10 are some of the most thrilling episodes of tv i’ve come across and really engage you completely in the show. We see a whole new cast almost in season 2 and at first I wasn’t here for it but after a few episodes you realise how good it’s shaping up to be. I think the 2x5-2x10 besides 2x9 stretch is def the best stretch of the show and is so immersing. Top 5 Characters: 1. Kevin (easily too) 2. Matt 3. Patti 4. John 5.
