Sons of Anarchy is about hereditary cycles of violence, specifically in the Teller family. At first we think Jax could get out or somehow make up for what he's become but after falling too far in 4x14 we're left to assume it's too late for this Teller generation and the nexts to come. But this show was never about continuing their family cycle, it was about breaking it. It's too late for Jax, but it's not too late for his children. Once he figures this out he finally let's them go like he was going to in s2 and breaks the cycle once and for all. For a show so brutal and tragic to end on such a high, uplifting note is something really unique and special. Papas Goods perfectly concludes the themes of the show and is an overall pretty great episode. Not in my top 5 or maybe top 7-8ish finales but still amazing.

I wish this entire show were more similar to this episode's style. Fun, really well-shot action sequences, great music choices, pacing, acting, and especially great writing. Sadly, the rest of the show outside of s4 doesn't have this and instead of unbelievably flawed and was a pretty tough watch at times. This episode stretch in particular is brilliant but doesn't make up for the insane amounts of errors in past seasons and even this season. I don't wanna end this review shitting on SOA though.

That ending was so fucking absurd and hilarious it might be the hardest I've laughed at an episode ever. Everyone should watch The Shield before SOA imo. There's so many little hints and cameos to The Shield in this it was probably the most entertaining part of this show for me.
