Poster for Jury Duty
"real life Truman Show" The series chronicles the inner workings of a jury trial in the US through the eyes of juror Ronald Gladden, a solar contractor from San Diego, who is unaware that his jury duty summons was not official, and that everyone in the courtroom aside from him is an actor. Everything that happens, inside and outside the courtroom, is perfectly planned. The actors are more than convincing in their roles and prove their talent for improvisation, as they always have to deal authentically with Ronald's reactions and actions. Thanks to the quirky characters and the not uninteresting court case, the show is thoroughly entertaining. The show also made me laugh a lot. However, if you think about it, the general premise is a bit creepy and has quite a few parallels to the movie "The Truman Show" (1998). Ronald Gladden has said in post-release interviews that he was plagued by paranoia (or paranoia of persecution) after the show. He sometimes still had the feeling of being secretly filmed, as was done on Jury Duty. Fortunately, Gladden is a cheerful, balanced person who is in the middle of life and has been able to get rid of most of it quickly in order to return to his "normal" everyday life. Although this will never be the same again due to the media attention on the heroic figure he is now known as to the whole world... All in all, we need more nice, friendly and helpful people like James Marsden in today's world, where everyone is busy and focused on themselves. Rating: "memorable" 4 out of 5 stars
