this show is not perfect by any means but i do really appreciate the indigenous representation in this show because not only is it about maya's personal growth but also a celebration of her choctaw heritage and culture. i also really appreciate the ASL aspects in the show because they helped show the dichotomy between those who truly care for and know maya best, like her family, and those who only used her, like kingpin, and it makes me want to learn ASL
