Monster is Naoki Urasawa's Best Work. Some might say Pluto, Some might say 20th Century Boys. But for me this is his greatest work. RATING | @Azyst 95/100 | 5★ | 10/10 THE SHOW/ANIME Getting into the show, i have set my expectation low as the first half of this show was quite slow. Every arc we will be served for a new mystery and will be leftout without answer. By nearly the endgame of this show,all the mystery will be connected and it was one of the most satisfying payoff i ever seen in any tv show. One of the reason this show is highly praised because of its Complex Writting, Themes that Monster Bring up And The Plot itself. 74 Episodes and Monster Done a great job at keeping the audience Entertained. CHARACTERS KENZO TENMA -while not being a top 5 Protagonist in my opinion, and might as well not be in top 10 as i havent watch a lot of shows, Tenma is Certainly a protagonist everyone will like and enjoy. He isnt an anti hero like Walter White or Tony Soprano. He Is a guy fighting his own moral in his own head, he always saw humans are equal, and because of that he saved Johan, and it was a fatal mistake in his life. The show itself is tenma on a mission proving himself innocent and not guilty. As well as ending Johan. JOHAN LIEBERT - The Antagonist of the series himself, One of the best written character in fictional works. And one of the best Antagonist as well in fictional works. Johan was perfectly set up, from the first episode to episode 4. We Know Johan is related to the serial killing case. Since that, Tenma Mission to hunt Johan began and the build of johan's character is so well. From not knowing what his motives was and what happend in his backstory to finally solve the puzzle at last. Johan is so Complex that he is by far the scariest Antagonist. He wasnt some anime villain who has the most powerful power in the world, people don't know he exists. And people like him can be real in this life. Thats what made him perfectly done. So far my #1 antagonist in tv shows/anime. (Haven't see Hannibal) and he negs aizen easily. WOLFGANG GRIMMER - Grimmer or my favorite character in the series. He was revealed as one of the Kinderheim 511 experimental child, and the conclusion of his character is one of my favorite. "The Magnificent Steiner" is one of the main part in Grimmer's Character. The Wrath of The Magnificent Steiner born and raised inside Grimmer so whenever he is in danger or death end situation, the magnificent steiner took over his body. Instead of being a bad guy and let the monster/magnificent steiner grew inside him, he actually try to be a good person. He even try to live as normal human being. It was proved when he revealed that he used to be married and had a daughter, until his daughter passed away and he had no emotion and reaction as he dont know how to react. this is what Kinderheim 511 did to him. His wife then left him. But he never try to be a bad person. Johan chose the dark path, Grimmer Chose the good one. Greatest side character in anime. DETECTIVE LUNGE - Lunge was showed as an obsessed man he was so obsessed with every case that it was mentioned that he never failed to solve any cases he handled. Only one case he can't solve is Eva's Father Case, and from any perspective, Tenma is the only one who received any luck out of the case, making Lunge suspect Tenma. And after 10 years and after what happened in Episode 4, Lunge was 100% convinced that Tenma was the main suspect. As the series continues, there are a few times that it is shown that Lunge is so obsessed with Tenma that he even abandoned his own family. Even in one episode (I forgot which), he cancelled his meeting with his daughter and his grandchild just to get close to Tenma. At the end of the series, he was proved wrong by the existence of Johan liebert. He apologises, and at the end, he realises that he was too obsessed. CONCLUSION - At the end, we can see everyone is finally living a normal life, Anna Continue on her college, Lunge at Grimmer's Grave with the beer they promised to drink together.. Lunge realised he was too obssesed at this point. Eva is my favorite so far, she finally can move on from tenma after years being miserable. And Tenma met the Twin's Mother, at last and everything was finally revealed. The Ending the show really need and deserved. an open ending about what happend to Johan. And who is the real monster question. Johan finally accept his name, Johan Liebert. He reedems himself at the end. The ending gave you an empty feeling, naoki urasawa definitely planned this out when he wrote the ending. Did Johan and anna Mother's actually planned on giving up Anna and kept Johan or was she confused. Was she actually want to give up Johan, and kept anna but she gave anna instead because of confusion ? and bonaparta, the man behind it all, is he the real monster. At the end, Grimmer's death effect him so much that he finally reedems himself too. Is he really a monster ? Or was it the mother who gave up on her child ? Or was it Johan. The truly created monster ? One of my Favorite conclusion. My #4tv conclusion so far. I really need to watch more shows.
