Another excellent first season for a show with a prison theme, but Oz unlike Prison Break is much more focused on the characters living in prison, and the cast is really great at least because there is no focus on any particular character, everyone gets their due attention. What I liked most about the characters is the dynamic of Beecher and Vern, especially the way it shows itself towards the end of the season. It's very interesting to see what happens next.
