“Don’t make a name for a yourself as a cyberpunk by how you live, make a name by how you die” one of the most beautiful pieces of television i’ve ever watched. Which is surprising coming from my very first anime. Simply thought nothing of it besides a little expansion to the games world when it was announced. as i’ve recently got back into Cyberpunk 2077 i decided to watch this and by the end of the series i was left in tears. David’s character development is incredible and heartbreaking all together, his whole character arc is maybe the best thing to come out of this franchise. Lucy is an amazing character herself, the relationship between her and david is amazing, the team they’re involved in is full of personality and uniquely created characters. The action is unreal, jaw on the floor moments almost every single episode. The music is the perfect cherry on top The visuals are probably the biggest surprise to me, as it being my first anime i really didn’t know what to expect, but my god studio Trigger‘s animation for Edgerunners is some of the most gorgeous animation i’ve ever seen. Perfectly blends the Night City we know and love with its on spin, the series itself does so many little things that are 1:1 from the video game that i fucking adore, such as the way phone calls are displayed, or how the hacking process works, seeing a different eye and a BTS on these big corporations is something i was dying to see, and the show did that aswell, as a massive fan of the game its those things that put the biggest smile on my head. It’s a love letter to fans of Cyberpunk 2077 but more important it is it’s entirety own thing, which makes these two the greatest companionship you could possibly imagine.
