One of the greatest seasons ever and top 1 in dexter with ease. First off i wanna start with saying how damn well it started dealing 10 years after the events of Remember the Monsters. The season 8 finale was one of the most horrendous things ever made, completely destroying the show of what made it good and a completely idiotic ending (could've been actually good if it weren't for the incompetent writers). 

Cold Snap immediately hooked me into this consistently amazing season, dexter in this snowy small town and pretending to be a good guy selling guns and whatnot. Also had one of his best moments in that exact ep, when confronting the deer and reached his hand out to touch it until Matt shot it down and Dex got angered. Honestly, when thinking of the deer shot and bleeding in the snow it really reminds me of Dexter's conclusion. I figure there's symbolism around that but I'm gonna watch an analysis for that sometime to really understand it but it still remains for me an amazing parallel. Dex ends up killing Matt as his first murder in almost a decade and the search for his victim and his eventual downfall begins.

Honestly dont know why i didnt say this yet but New Blood is quite easily the best season for Dexter's character as well. Haunted by one illusion which is Debra, who was constantly insulting him throughout the whole season. We know when she was actually alive she wouldn't say all those things but i presume dexter felt responsible for debra and felt guilty for what happened to her at the end of the original show. 

Harrison also shows up while looking for his father and they meet up ofc. For most of the season, some of Harrison's actions make Dexter think more and more that he has a dark passenger. But again this is disproven in the ending of the Family Business, harrison was horrified by what Dexter did to Kurt and headed outside, now that's what you'd think a person with the "Dark Passenger"  would do or even younger dexter? Definitely not. So all the time Dexter gaslighted himself into thinking his son has the dark passenger, basically all he wanted another person in the world like him.

All this leads up to one of the best character conclusions ever, at first Sins of the Father makes you think (unless spoiled) that Dexter will be finally found out as the Bay Harbor Butcher and sent to the electric chair. But out of sudden, he kills a cop to escape from the cell and meet up with Harrison. Lots of people think this is out of character for him but i really don't. The first rule of the code is not to get caught and plus this isn't the first time he killed an innocent either and he was very ready to kill Laguerta in the s7 finale. Dexter ends up getting a phenomenal conclusion a few minutes later and maybe my least favourite moment of the season pops up a bit later when angela shows up suddenly, idk it felt a bit rushed in the moment but it doesn't ruin the episode. It all concludes beautifully in the end though, harrison leaving the town with the car and as we hear the last dexter monologue. I don't get the hate behind the ending at all, it was the only way they could've concluded the show in my opinion.
