I was lying in bed, bored but not tired, and along comes my saving grace; the Mr Robot DVD box set in the other room. I put my Mr Robot watch time to use and masterfully set up a HDMI cable between my dad's computer and his TV (due to the tragic lack of a dvd player) and set the Christmas lights to blue because of the memorable lighting choices of this episode. I feel it tells you a lot that an episode has a visual theme immediately associated with it in your head when you think about it, 404 Not Found and its cinematography and clear vibe creates an atmosphere of a cold, lonely winter night that we can all recognise. I had a lot of fun overanalyzing every camera choice they made and half of what I gathered probably wasn't intentional on their part with the exception of how much distance there is between the characters in the forest in all of the shots they use, but as they have more common interest or are being less hidden it will pull them closer together. Another large contributor to the feeling this episode gives you is its soundtrack, ranging from haunting Christmas music (believe me that's a thing somehow) to the utterly heartbreaking sound given to the end scene. I enjoyed the creepy recurring Christmas bells theme because I love the contrast of a traditionally jolly time to what's going on in the series. I really can't applaud "Going For A Walk" enough though as it's one of my favourite tracks from the Mr Robot soundtrack and will always bring me back to the feeling of the episode when I listen to it. I'm very glad I enjoyed this a little bit more with a rewatch but my rating for it is still a little lower than most because I still didn't connect with it emotionally other than Darlene's scenes - which I always find so sad and wholesome and love a lot - and happyhardonhenry806, Alexa and Dom's scenes did subtract from the episode as a whole. 8.5/10
