I dont think series finale is an all timer but rating is too low imo

3.5 😭 Tom is kinda just a puppet with the CEO label. He'll do anything Mattson wants which is why he was chosen. He isn't a Logan Roy by any means and he isnt supposed to be

Tom getting it was the perfect way to end it imo

Everyone's conclusion perfectly parallels how they have been throughout the entire show and really reinforces the question of if human nature can be changed, if people can break from their nature

Kendall is stuck in a cycle that we see throughout the entire show, and in episodes like Too Much Birthday we see how overconfident he is and how he really isn't competent

Roman is kind of where he was at the very beginning, he doesn't really care. He is smart enough to know that it's all bullshit, and the siblings are all bullshit. He may actually be the most competent in some ways, but he isn't a serious person just like the other siblings

Shiv has always been obsessed with power, always trying to get more but ultimately being held back by her father. She is also extremely overconfident. Her being under Tom is another form of this. Technically in a position of power, but she isn't happy. She still has to submit to the men in power over her

Tom has been climbing the power ladder the entire show. Always sucking up to whoever is in charge to try and get a better status. He is kind of the opposite of Shiv where she wants to be dominant in her power, where Tom is always sucking up to whoever can get him more power. And him being under Mattson is another form of this.

Every character is somewhat where they were at the beginning, just in a more final form.

@NumberOneGregFan you gave the most perfect explanation I could’ve asked for (: As much as everything you said makes perfect sense, I don’t think I’ll ever actually be a fan of the ending unfortunately & a lot of it has to do with how I simply just don’t like the show all that much in general. It fits a lot better now that you’ve detailed how/why it concluded well though

I don’t mean this in a mean way but I really don’t think you get what happened with Tom. He didn’t end up a winner at all

He signed himself away just to grab a powerful title, but ultimately he is pretty much powerless and just Mattson’s puppet

Him getting that position is the clear and fitting conclusion to his character because he was doing that throughout the entirety of the show and was always a slimey person doing anything he could to get power, it’s highly likely that’s why he got with Shiv in the first place too

Either way it’s obv ok if you don’t like it when under that context. This is a show really dependent on if you connect with it instantly or not

Not that great of ending yeah I agree, so many issues with the writing which ultimately is just a huge slap in the face for the viewers. I don’t mind Tom winning but theres like no buildup to it he just tells Shiv abt it and she changes her opinion and Tom wins like wow amazing finale guys practically zero character or plot buildup best show ever amiright
