i feel like season two really ironed out a lot of the issues season one had. season one was great in its own way but i mainly watched it for great film camera work and the acting. now that this show has everything seemingly heading in the right direction it’s cancelled of course. there’s still some things i had problems with, most particularly with Magic Johnson getting sidelined at the start of the season, but once you figure out what his arc is, the time on the bench is more justifiable. there’s so much character and actual human depth going on this season. the style and substance have finally become one. it feels like an actual lived in world because of season one so they use that to just push the characters and filmmaking any chance they get. the nearly entirely silent Larry Bird origin story episode. the hamburger hamlet episode. the glorious final episode. any time john c reilly spoke. it hit levels that didn’t really seem tangible based on season one but damn they did and damn i wish there was a season three.
